Join Opus 48 as they kick off their fourth season with a wonderful and highly contrasting concert. Tallis’ epic Spem in alium begins the concert – a true cathedral of beauty, elegance, and polyphonic genius. Following this, we move on to Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice with a cast that includes mezzo-soprano Catherine Carby who has sung the role of Orfeo at English National Opera. This is an opera that is both highly dramatic and full of musical gems, no more so than Orfeo’s stunning aria ‘Che faro senza Euridice’. In the fabulous surroundings of St John the Evangelist Church, this promises to be an evening of rich contrast and astonishing music.
