A Musical Tour of the British Isles
Oxford Pro Musica Singers
Mark Jordan, conductor
Oxford Pro Musica Singers present a choral musical tour of the British Isles taking in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales via the Isle of Man. We will sing Elgar‘s part songs My love dwelt in a northern land and There is Sweet Music, along with music by Holst and Moeran. From Ireland we include Stanford‘s magical The Blue Bird and Percy Grainger‘s arrangement of the Londonderry Air. We’ll make a stop in the Isle of Man to sing Mannin Veen (Dear Mona) which is a traditional Manx melody, arranged for choir by Vaughan Williams. There will be folksongs from Scotland along with James MacMillan‘s beautiful setting of the Gallant Weaver. There will also be sacred works by William Mathias, Charles Wood and more…
Surely our programme of secular and sacred choral music will include something for everyone. Do join us!
