Handel’s Solomon
Sat 15 March 19:30 - 22:00
The Oxford Baroque Players join forces with Imperial College Chamber Choir and Somerville College Choir to give performances of Handel’s Solomon in Oxford and London. Handel’s magnificent oratorio tells the biblical story of King Solomon’s life, including the Judgement and the famous Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. Exploring themes of art, justice and governance, Solomon raises questions about what it means to be a good leader, as well as the ideals of the society.
Featuring acclaimed countertenor Francis Gush alongside student soloists from both choirs. Directed by Patrick Allies (ICCC), François Cloete (OBP) and William Dawes (Somerville).
