Commotio: Howells Requiem

Sat 22 March 19:30 - 21:00

The concert will feature Colin Mawby’s stunning Reproaches, and a work dedicated to him by John Duggan, who sang as a chorister during Mawby’s tenure at Westminster Cathedral. Alongside rarely-heard works by Jon Mostad and Herbert Kennedy Andrews, the choir will also perform Philip Moore’s ‘Three Prayers of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’, Harry Johnstone’s ‘A Prayer in Memory of Andrew Fathers, and the eight-part masterpiece, ‘Motette’ by Hans Gal. Ending the concert will be the superlative Requiem by Herbert Howells, which, although written in 1936, was only first performed just over 40 years ago.
